Escape+Weather

In survival situations (where you are in the middle of nowhere) your safest bet is to build a fire and signal close vehicles of your position because they are likely to be looking for you. If you must, the safest way to travel is to follow these steps below:

1. Avoid traveling during blizzards or whiteout conditions when you cannot see.
2. Always make sure that you are taking the safe path. Crossing rivers is crucial because if the water is not frozen you may fall in and most likely die.
3. Make sure you have proper equipment, including important things such as snowshoes, water, first aid equipment, metals, and survival kits.
4. Always set up camp early so that you will have time to improvise for missing equipment and will have good weather when doing so.

1. Wind. Drop leaves to determine direction. If you sense rapid winds, the weather is likely to change.
2. Clouds. Like in other regions of the world, rain and snow clouds will appear much more dark and dense. If you see any dark clouds, I advise you to stay inside.
3. Smoke. Vertical: good. Low rising or flattened out: bad weather.
4. Birds + Insects. Birds and Insects usually fly lower during rainy climates. Most insects apart from bees will become more active before a storm.
